About Us
This archive begins with Salvador López Álvarez, of La Huacana, and Herlinda Duarte Reyes, of Ario de Rosales: two towns of Michoacán's Tierra Caliente barely 30 km apart, whose families became one.
La Huacana, in the municipality of Múgica, is a land of ranchos and cattle, of golden afternoons and arpa grande music. Ario de Rosales, cradle of the 1818 Constitución de Ario, is a warm valley of orchards, market days, and church bells. From those two worlds we come.
Here we keep their names, their photographs, their recipes, and their stories — the confirmed ones and those still to be confirmed — so the generations to come will know where they come from.
The purpose
The purpose of this site is simple: that no memory be lost. Every oral history recorded in time, every photograph rescued from a drawer, every recipe written down before it is forgotten, is a piece of the trunk we leave to those who come after us.
